Dr. Herndon explaining dental implants to a patient

Our doctors will take the time to explain the treatment in detail to you beforehand and patiently answer any questions you have.

Long-Lasting and Lifelike Teeth Replacement

Our foremost goal is to help our patients preserve their natural teeth, but if that isn’t possible—if a tooth is too far-gone or is already missing—dental implants are the optimal tooth replacement solution.

Dr. Herndon has four decades of experience with dental implants and has successfully placed thousands of them. He is an Amsterdam Fellow, holds a certificate in Implant-Assisted Reconstructive Dentistry through the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and worked for 16 years at a practice exclusive to Periodontics, Implants, Periodontal Prosthesis, and Advanced Reconstructive Dentistry. He has the training and experience to give you implants that can last the rest of your life.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed in the jawbone and is used to support a crown, dental bridge or denture. Made of biocompatible titanium, implants integrate with your jawbone and allow you to talk, chew and exert pressure just like natural teeth. They are so lifelike that people usually do not notice a difference between their implant-supported teeth and their real teeth.

High-Tech 3D Planning

The doctors do extensive planning for each implant case using state-of-the-art technology to ensure precise placement and a successful outcome. Our office’s 3D CT scanner lets the doctors see all of your oral anatomy at once in a 360-degree view, including the locations of your nerves and density of your jawbone. This data is then used in special 3D implant planning software to simulate your surgery in advance so there will be no surprises during the real thing.

Depending on the case, the doctors may create a custom surgical guide that is placed on your gums during the surgery to indicate the precise location at which to place each implant. This, combined with the doctors’ detailed planning, makes the procedure fast, efficient and predictable.

Entire Treatment in One Office

Because of the doctors’ knowledge and experience in many dental fields, you can get every part of your implant treatment handled right in our office. There’s no need to go anywhere else or see any other doctors for the diagnostics, planning or placement of your implants, and we will create and attach beautiful new teeth to your implants too.

Placing implants in an unhealthy mouth is a recipe for disaster. Our doctors will make sure your mouth is healthy enough to support implants, and, if it isn’t, they will make it so with gentle and thorough gum disease treatment.

If your jaw is lacking the needed bone density to support an implant, our doctors can boost the volume of your jawbone with bone grafting so that an implant can be successfully placed.

Keeping You Comfortable

Your comfort is very important to us, which is why we work hard to help you feel at ease at all times in our office and provide IV sedation for implant treatments. Our friendly doctors and staff will thoroughly explain all steps of the procedure to you and will happily answer any questions you have.

We also offer discounts on treatment if paid for with cash.

Implant Options for Teeth Replacement

Dental implants can be used to replace one tooth, several teeth or even an entire set of teeth. Replacing a single tooth with an implant is a one-tooth solution to a one-tooth problem—it does not call for damaging healthy neighboring teeth like a traditional dental bridge does. Several adjacent teeth can be replaced with an implant-supported bridge using a minimal number of implants. Our doctors can even replace a full arch of teeth with permanently fixed-in implant bridges or a removable implant-supported “snap-on” denture.

In this illustration, one tooth has been replaced by a single implant, and three adjacent missing teeth are being replaced with an implant-supported bridge.

Implant-Supported Snap-On Dentures

This teeth replacement option uses as few as two dental implants to secure a full lower denture in place. Because it is anchored by implants, the denture will not move around your mouth unexpectedly and will stay put for talking and chewing.

It is called a “snap-on” denture because the implants are fitted with special connector points that snap into corresponding sockets on the denture. This provides a secure fit so the denture stays in place when you want it to, yet you can still easily remove it for cleaning and snap it back in whenever you wish.

Implant-Supported Full-Arch Bridges

We also offer fixed-in bridges that can only be removed by a doctor. This option provides the most lifelike stability and chewing power of any full-arch teeth replacement solution.

In some cases, Dr. Herndon can even extract a patient’s last unsavable teeth, place implants and attach a temporary arch of new teeth all in the same visit. Once the implants have had the chance to fully integrate with the jawbone, Dr. Herndon will replace the temporary teeth with beautiful permanent ones.
